UNVEILING IBETHIA : TOSIN ADEGBITE
My singing journey started at a young age of 9 in Nigeria. My mom encouraged my big brother and I to join the church choir. We would go to practice on Saturdays and sing on Sundays. It was fun for us because it was a time to meet church friends and learn new songs. At times I would watch as the choir master would give us our parts to sing and the lead vocalist would sing so beautifully. I wanted to someday sing as lovely as they. In my youth fellowship group, the youth pastor would sometimes ask me to lead praise and worship before Wednesday bible study times and although at the time I didn’t know what God was preparing me for, it became part of my nature to sing.
As I matured, I would be asked by my parents to lead our morning devotional worship. Nothing in this world gives me more joy than singing worship and talking about God so much so that I would dream of singing. I would sing in the shower, sing while I work, humming to myself ceaselessly without knowing that it would sometimes annoy those in my proximity.
In high school/secondary school, I started writing poems, plays, scripts and even started writing a book and it gradually developed into writing songs. I wrote love songs but I should have been writing Gods songs. Many things occurred in my life that shifted my focus from God to the world.
Although my amazing parents raised me in church, I became wayward and wanted to experience life. I wanted to live and felt that the restraints of biblical living was too strict. But I soon learned through experience that these rules are in place for our own protection. There truly is no enjoyment outside of God and even the best human experience provides temporary pleasures. Thank God He delivered me early.
The turning point of my life’s trajectory began once I started earnestly walking with God. At that point I was no longer following God because my parents do, my relationship with God came out of choice. With my choice, God started leading me to write songs of worship, of inspiration and I began walking in His purpose for my life.
I currently hold a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management and Logistics. I am also happily married with three children and I have decided to follow God’s mandates by dedicating myself to my gospel music ministry. My heart is for the youth and helping the homeless became more stable in life. I’m taking actions towards these missions.
I hope to bless this generation with my story and give the assurance that God is real, God is faithful and only in Him can we begin to walk in purpose.
I have written many songs and hope to share one song per month in 2019. So far, starting November of 2018 I have released three Singles titled below:
